2011 Update

Hey everyone! 2010 was an incredible year and it seems as though the momentum is carrying through to 2011! When I began to pursue my dreams as a Product Designer I never imagined I would touch on so many different areas of design ranging from Sports, Tools, Fashion , Toys, Medical, Social and Graphic Design etc… Currently there are a lot of positive things happening with my work and I never forget to acknowledge the fact that a lot of that has to do with all the wonderful people I have met and all my friends and family who have always encouraged me. Who am I today? I wear many hats. I am a Senior Product Design student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Mi. I consider all the interests I have and don’t feel I could have picked a better major in the world of Design. I have had the opportunity to travel to Rhode Island recently to design toys for Hasbro Inc. and learned a great deal about the toy industry and will have design going into production from that wonderful opportunity. In the past year I had the opportunity to work with Detroit’s Homeless designing a product that has the potential to do great things for the homeless of Detroit (http://mikeforbesdesign.com/home-2/). The (U.S.B.)Ulterior Survival Bag has recently gained more momentum with me returning back to Detroit and I am continuing the 2nd phase of development after being with Hasbro for 4 months.  Within the last year I am proud to say I am a partner in a new Detroit business and the designer for Anymile Clothing based out of Detroit which was an idea sparked by frustration of trying to push the U.S.B. Ulterior Survival Bag forward into a real a realization. The U.S.B. is a set of two bags intended for those still on the streets  that transforms into winter boots in an attempt to address the lack of footwear available for the homeless of Detroit. Anymile Clothing: “This Isn’t Fashion…It’s A Movement” has helped reach the community in the Metro Detroit Area and raise attention to the social issues this area faces and fund efforts to develop it. Anymile will continue on our path of social responsibility and represent the Movement we hope to be part of in Detroit. Currently I am partnered up with Henry Ford Hospital at school working to develop a new innovative design for the Medical field which is extremely exciting! Along with all this I am working for DPI Graphics doing vehicle Wraps which has been an awesome learning experience. 2011 has started positively and will be great with graduation next winter… Can’t wait to see what happens next as things keep moving along…
